Welcome to the Winter Holiday installment of the EUS Market Wire. Hopefully everyone has plenty of tasty food lurking around the office and at home (is that pumpkin pie in the refrigerator really calling my name?)...geez, will it ever stop? We here at EUS will need to hire personal trainers at the rate things are going. In all truthfulness, we hope all of you enjoyed your Thanksgiving and you are looking forward to the joys of the season. Well, back to the exciting subject of environmental insurance. The market has continued to be wild and wooly with plenty of options and capacity. The coverage availability just continues to grow. We will always be sure that renewals and new business are properly marketed to maximize the chances for writing the account. It is our philosophy that responsiveness and market knowledge are the keys to placing business. As always, we appreciate any opportunities that come our way.

CA9948 Endorsement

A recent development in our segment of the market is the announcement of a new auto liability and physical damage program from Ace Insurance Group. This will prove to be a valuable compliment to their already excellent program for environmental consultants, contractors, facilities and products related risks. The program will provide sudden & accidental pollution liability coverage via the CA9948 endorsement as well as the appropriate liability filings (i.e. MCS-90, Form E, etc.). This program is available immediately so please feel free to give us a call for details and underwriting requirements. We expect to have expanded success working with this new enhancement. In addition, we also have new access to programs underwritten by American Safety Insurance Company and Gemini Insurance Company. Both of these programs provide coverages for fire/water restoration contractors as well as mold remediation contractors. Again, we would love to hear from you if you have accounts or potential accounts that might fit into these categories.

For the purpose of our newsletter, we will use the following common acronyms as related to environmental coverages (this may seem to be too elementary but just to make sure we are all on the same page...please be patient with us):

  • GL - General Liability
  • AL - Auto Liability (often including physical damage)
  • E&O - Professional Liability (always including pollution component)
  • CPL - Contractors Pollution Liability
  • TPL - Transit Pollution Liability (either contingent or owned)
  • PLL or EIL - Site Pollution Liability (i.e. fixed location coverage)
  • PPL - Products Pollution Liability
  • UST - Underground Storage Tank Liability
  • UMB/XS - Umbrella or Excess Liability (usually including a pollution component)
  • WC - Workers Compensation
  • C-PC - Closure/Post Closure Liability
